5/3/08 New Generator now in place
From the Daily Advertiser 6 March 2008:
2AAA-FM has committed to broadcasting throughout The Riverina in the case of bushfires or other disasters after the installation of new back-up generators. 2AAA-FM Chair, Jean Haste says the power generators allow the station to broadcast an uninterrupted service during blackouts caused by bushfires or other disasters.
"We can now be sure of being available 24/7 allowing the station to provide essential information to the local community from emergency service personnel, particularly during times of any local emergency or natural disaster."
The generators were obtained with the assistance of a Federal Government emergency services program grant. Mrs Haste said the station applied for the grant after hearing of the importance of an emergency broadcast service during bushfires in Victoria.
